WE BELIEVE THAT THE MOST EFFECTIVE FORM OF AID IS NOT A HANDOUT, BUT RATHER A HAND UP

With 65 percent of the population under 30 years old, Cambodia’s future rests in the hands of its youth. Liger Leadership Academy believes it is imperative to equip a new generation with the capacity and drive to lead Cambodia’s future social and economic development. LLA is committed to nurturing highly-skilled entrepreneurial thinkers who are globally-minded, determined, ethical, passionate, and effective. Liger students aren’t waiting for tomorrow; they are changing their country now.

OUR STUDENTS

Samady, Age 18

“As a citizen of Cambodia, I should learn about its history. I made a documentary about my classmates expressing their feelings toward the Cambodian Genocide Museum and the Khmer Rouge regime. It makes me happy that the documentary impacts audiences when it is shown in different places. I really want to become a filmmaker and impact people’s perspectives.”

Vuthy, Age 18

“Technology can help a lot of people and I felt satisfied when our tech support exploration was able to help other organizations in Cambodia. When I am not in class, I love to work on my computer coding, making websites or designing apps. I wouldn’t know who I am and I wouldn’t have found my passion without Liger.”

Sopheak, Age 17

“As a change agent, I want to become a psychologist that can help people understand about mental issues and give them the services that they need. What I love most about Liger is that it isn’t focused on who is the best or who is the worst. It is about working together. Everyone is different and we all have the potential to learn and grow.”

Our Learning Model

Liger Leadership Academy is more than a school. In addition to the essential curriculum, we educate students in project, opportunity, and experiential-based learning. Liger’s innovative model has enabled our young leaders to excel beyond traditional subjects. Our students have become internationally published authors, app and digital currency developers, regionally recognized robotics engineers, and national award-winning filmmakers – all by the age of 18. Liger students aren’t waiting for tomorrow; they are changing their country now.

Liger’s extensive, nationwide recruitment process screens over 8,000 children. We select between 50 and 60 students who we believe to have the most potential to become future change agents and leaders of Cambodia. LLA provides a full scholarship to all students including tuition, room and board, clothing, vaccinations, medical and dental care, health insurance, school supplies, and transportation. Liger’s graduates will be prepared for the rigors of international and Cambodian university as well as have the skill sets and knowledge to start, develop or join a business.
